Imaginations of the Heart

Why is it important to understand and utilize our imagination? Imagination is a powerful tool we have that can drive us forward to act in specific ways. Imagination can turn our emotions around and have us feeling differently so that we may act differently. The imagination can be an automatic, subconscious function that can wield our emotions and drive us to behavior that we would not necessarily want. When we continue in a behavior that is detrimental to our health, we are addicted. Therefore, the imagination can lead us to a prison cell, but can it lead us to freedom?

Genesis 8:22 "for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth". Our heart is like a garden, and the weeds grow naturally, without any help; they just grow. Lucky for us, we can have Christ help us with our garden, pulling out the weeds, and planting beautiful flowers. Imagine for yourself what those beautiful flowers could be. "You are loved." "You are special." "You belong." Beautiful thoughts.

Hypnotherapy is a matter of behavioral change; the Holy Ghost is an agent of identity change. With the Holy Ghost, we become children of God. With hypnotherapy, we have an opportunity to look deeper into what is planted in our garden; it is a deep dive into what we have planted. It is a tool to help us understand ourselves better. What is the imagination of our hearts? Once we discover our imaginations of the heart, we can be co-gardeners with Christ to weed out and plant in our lives what we are truly here to become: children of God, children of the covenant, and disciples of Christ.
